Wine Profile

At Winehaven, we have been making premium grape wines and honey mead in Minnesota for 25 years.  We thought it was time to combine our passions for grapes, honey and (of course) chocolate to make a wine so delicious that it would leave everyone wanting… more!

Winemaking

In true Winehaven style, we combined the best Minnesota basswood honey our bees could produce with our very best estate-grown Marquette grapes and fermented it to a massive 15% alcohol by volume.  The result was a monstrous red wine with tremendous depth and complexity.  We infused this liquid deliciousness with dark chocolate to complement the generous berry aromas and flavors.  The result is a delicious explosion of dark chocolate, cocoa, honey, blackberry, black cherry, plum and boysenberry aromas.  Fruit flavors of sweet marionberry and blackberry jam are followed by a rich midpalate and lingering dark chocolate ganache finish.

Food Pairings

This wine is sinfully delicious paired with rich, decadent chocolate desserts as well as vanilla bean ice cream or bread pudding with plum or persimmons.  Dark fruit-based tarts and pecan pie also pair nicely.
