Tasting Room Manager

Winehaven is currently seeking a professional, experienced Tasting Room Manager with strong leadership skills to join our winery’s retail team. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Winehaven’s retail sales in Chisago City, Minnesota. This critical role includes customer service, employee development, sales tracking, inventory control and event support. This position will directly manage the activities of the tasting room employees to ensure friendly, professional, efficient and courteous service is provided to customers. Developing a positive working environment with a spirit of cooperation is a key element of this position. Our visitor volume and high profile Tasting Room require an outgoing, well organized, self motivated and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer’s experience.

Full-Time Position: (40 hours/week average).

Essential Functions of this Job:
• Effectively oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room which includes; tastings, visitor relations, staff performance, wine clubs and Internet sales.
• Delivers guidance and structure to other key personnel to properly delegate areas of responsibility and manage the outcome of various projects.
• Provides motivation, leadership and personal support through coaching, guidance and staff development.
• Manages the overall culture, encourages a strong work ethic and fosters an environment of integrity and admiration.
• Oversees hiring, training, coaching and provides mentorship to the Tasting Room staff to encourage and maximize their potential.
• Partners with winemakers and production staff to ensure the Tasting Room staff receives the appropriate level of sales, product and general wine education and training.
• Conveys the value of our products, services and company image to our guests.
• Recognize and address performance strengths and challenges of the staff. Handle employee issues, concerns and complaints in an objective, professional and confidential manner.
• Maintain professional and timely communications with other winery staff to assure continuity and success of winery activities and responsibilities.
• Develop strategies to increase guest count, sales per transaction and other tactics that help to grow the business.
• Develop sales goals and implement promotions and strategies to successfully achieve these goals.
• Oversee and maintain accurate inventories for both wine and non-wine merchandise to minimize loss and optimize reorder set points.
• Work within the Tasting Room conducting tastings, answering phones, resolving guest complaints and recording reservations as needed.
• Responsible for selecting, with the help of staff and ownership, non-wine merchandise and assessing success of each item based on sales.
• Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the Tasting Room areas.
• Responsible for overseeing, staffing and implementing special events including weddings, dinners and VIP tastings.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


• 4-8 years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree desirable.
• Prior winery, restaurant, or food service experience highly desirable.
• Possess excellent overall communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to work with multiple personality types while demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
• Demonstrate high levels of leadership, initiative, creativity and flexibility.
• Proficient computer knowledge in areas such as MS Office and Point of Sale systems.
• Flexible work schedule will be required to execute the job function. Weekends, evening and some holidays required.
• Can lift up to 50 pounds.
• Can be on your feet most of the day.

Production Assistant

We are seeking a Production Assistant to support daily winery operations. The ideal candidate has experience working in an agricultural setting, a positive attitude, and a strong desire to learn about winemaking and grape growing. Availability to work some weekends is desired.

Daily activities include wine movements, equipment maintenance, winery sanitation, additions, filtration, bottling and support of winery events. During harvest the candidate will work directly with the winemaker in all aspects of crush, press, and fermentation.

This is a great position to learn first hand about the inner-workings of a small, family owned winery and assist in the production of a wide variety of wine types and styles.

Tasting Room Associate

Our tasting room is an integral part of the overall winery operation and an extension of our brand. In this part-time position, you will be active in both tasting room and consumer direct sales as well as assisting with event administration. The position includes a mix of weekday and weekend work.

Essential Functions:
Tasting Room Sales
-Provide guests with a positive and memorable experience
-Work a minimum of six weekends every two months
-Actively sell both wine and non-wine merchandise
-Process sales accurately and efficiently in the POS system
-Maintain the cleanliness of tasting room sales area, restroom and surrounding landscape.
-Develop point-of-sales displays focusing on sales of specific products.
-Schedule group and tour visits to the winery.

Consumer Direct Sales
-Process orders accurately and efficiently
-Package and ship orders according to established guidelines
-Add new customer/prospects to database
-Establishment and maintenance of consumer wine club
-Conduct off-site tastings for consumers and trade

-Inventory management
-Assist event preparation and execution
-Assist bottling and labeling team as required
